Final Arrest in Florida Auto Insurance Fraud Case |
One thing Insurers need to take into consideration is the amount of fraud that happens on a daily basis. Fraud is expensive and is the reason why some claims go through a very thourough investigation. Note, some of the best investigators out there work for insurance companies.
Joshua Sanders, a 31 year old resident of Bonita Springs Florida, was arrested on April 26th for his part in filing a false or fraudulent insurance claim. Sanders, one of two men involved in this sold a 2003 Corvette to a buyer who happened to be an undercover Sheriff’s deputy. The Vette was sold for $4,000. This car was later reported stolen and a claim was filed. The value of the insurance claim was in $24,000 range.
Sanders and another man, Stephen Weaver, were assisting Marsha Saxton, owner of the vehicle, with her fraud attempt. All were caught in this attempt.
While so many of these cases get busted, Insurance companies are unsure of the number of fraudulent claims that people do get away with. These types of claims lower the insurance companies revenue which will only result in rate increases. Everytime you get frustrated with the cost of auto insurance, fraud is one illegal activity that can be blamed.
