If this happens to you simply turn on your blinker and carefully pull to the side of the road. These days you never know what the issue is with the driver or the vehicle.

As you may have read, there is a recent story in the news about a guy who had his Prius take control of the wheel accelerating itself to over 80 mph on a San diego freeway. There is an investigation underway to determine what caused this. Early they issued a recall regarding the braking system. The man had a difficult time attempting to slow his vehicle down and called 911 for assistance. The Driver continued trying to lift the accelerator and hit the brakes with no luck. Once the Police caught up to the vehicle they began instructing him what to do over a loud speaker. They instructed the driver to to pull the emergency brake and turn off the engine while a police cruiser helped slow down and guide the vehicle from the front. Luckily no one was injured and it all came to an end.

A similar incident happened to a women who was pulling out of her home one day. The accelerator stuck causing her to crash into a brick wall. This accident resulted in the woman needing medical attention.

Side Thought: Will owners of the Toyota Prius experience a rate increase? Hmmm.

Two common luxury SUV Models include the 2010 Mercedes M-Class and the 2010 BMW X5. Vehicle Manufactures continue designing and implementing additional safety features which is great and I can only hope Manufactures continue their focus on vehicle safety. Learn more about a couple of the newer safety features found in Vehicles of Today.

Safety Feature found in the 2010 BMW X5

The 2010 BMW X5 is one vehicle that’s packed with more and more safety features every year. One safety feature that I’ve always enjoyed is the Electronic Stability Control device which is also found in the X5. This isn’t the newest piece of technology but it has continually been improved and is worth a mention. This device is an electronic technology that will help detect and minimize skidding. Basically when the device senses a loss in control of the steering it will apply brakes to the one or more wheels in order to counter the skid and regain control. Once the appropriate amount of braking is applied to the specific wheels needed, the Driver can then regain control and point the car better in the way the Driver intends. This electronic device will also reduce the power of the engine until the control of the vehicle is regained. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has estimated a 1/3 of fatal accidents could have been prevented if in fact this device was installed in all vehicles. In days to come, I can see this being one device that will be found in most vehicles found on the road.

Other safety features found in the 2010 BMW X5 include:

Pretensioner, side airbags, tire pressure monitor, a 4-wheel ABS system, Energy Management Feature, Lower Anchorage for child seats, and other advanced airbag features.

The 2010 Mercedes M-class

I’ve found the Auto Crash Notify feature to be a great addition and also should be installed on all newer vehicles on the market today. This sophisticated system can determine if the vehicle has been in an auto accident by sensors that determine the change in G-forces. Once a crash is determined the system is activated and begins reading several factors which help determine the severity of the crash and injuries that may have resulted. This device will determine airbag deployment, how many occupants in the vehicle and usage of safety belts. Through the use a global positioning satellite the system will also relay information regarding the orientation as well as the location of the vehicle. Passengers in the vehicle will be connected through a voice link to a call center who may help calm passengers and connect them with the appropriate 911 operator servicing that area who may then send out emergency assistance. When it comes to a severe auto collision, response time is an important factor that will determine the outcome of a Passenger’s health and well-being.

Other safety features found in the 2010 M-Class include:

Electronic stability control (as explained above), pretensioner, 4-wheel ABS and Traction control, lower anchorage for child seats, side front airbags, dynamic head restraints, tire pressure monitoring and other advanced airbag features.

Additional Note: Insurance rates between luxury vehicles can vary by several hundred depending on the safety features installed in each vehicle. Vehicles with additional safety features help lower your risk to accidents as well as injury which is why rates for safer vehicles are generally reduced by auto insurers.

Low Insurance and Security is quickly becoming the resource for people who need insurance. Many who visit us online enjoy the ease of comparing rates for several different lines of insurance. With our focus on property and casualty as well as health insurance, we offer our visitors several ways to comparison shop quotes in order to get the best rate for the coverage needed.

Our Auto & Homeowners Quote Options

One option we provide, as far as auto and home quoting options, is the option to select a local Independent Insurance Agency. At this time we are in search of an Agency in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

How our Colorado Springs Agency Selection Works:

So if you’re on the auto insurance quote page you first start by entering a zipcode. If the zipcode happens to be a Colorado Springs zipcode we then will give our shopper two options to select from. The first option is to get an online quote while the second option is to have a local independent Agency Shop For them.

When the shoppers requests a local quote they continue the typical quote questionare, vehcile type(s), Driver information, Details, Etc. These typical questions will be followed up by an Agency Selection page. When the the Shopper selects your Agency and continues and submits the quote we validate the information and send it directly to the Agency selected by the customer.

Shoppers who are in search of an affordable low cost health insurance plan are faced with many decisions concerning the type of plan needed. A few common decisions made include deductible amounts, copays and perscription costs. Besides these choices you will need to make what about the type of health plan. The four main health plans offered are the HMOs,PPO, HSA and the FFS.

Below I’ve provided a few details concerning each plan.

The HMO Insurance Plan

Basically the HMO, short for Health Maintenance Organization, is a health plan comprised of networks containing several health care organizations. This plan would generally be the low cost health insurance solution for someone shopping on a slim budget. Those who have an HMO are to select a Primary Care Physician who is the one the Insured will need to see prior to receiving other direct medical services.

The PPO Plan

PPO is short for Preferred Provider Organization. This plan gives you a little more control than the HMO Plans regarding the health care professional you select. This typ e of plan is very common and is a great option for those in search for a good insurance plan. With comparison shopping, shoppers can find a decent PPO health plan at an affordable price.

HSA Plans

The HSA or Health Saving Account. Tax free contributions are made to this account. This account will pay for health care needs once the deductible is met. These plans are generally offered as a plan for employers and business owners.

The FFS Health Plan

This plan refers to the Fee for Service Health Plan (FFS). Basically you pay for the service that you need and then this plan will reimburse you for a portion of that fee.

We provide a few ways for customers to compare quote for health insurance. Comparison shopping is the #1 strategy to save more on health insurance. The end result to shopping for health insurance is to not only to save more on health insurance but to get a plan that’s right for you.

Claims are filed for several different reasons. Below are a few claims common to the auto insurance industry.

- Damage to your vehicle or another vehicle you collide with.
- Medical payments for injuries caused to passengers or other drivers.
- Other damages and/or lost wages due to an occurance.

If you have glass coverage and experience a crack to your windshield you will need to make a claim before the Insurer will pay for the installation of a new windshield (assuming you have full glass coverage).

Now in many cases I have found small minor claims like this not to effect your premium. However, every company is different. Now if you file a claim for several $1,000 for damage you caused to your own or another’s vehicle, you most definately will see an increase in your rate. As insured motorists file claims they’re helping the Insurer learn more about your risk level. The more claims filed, the higher the risk.

What if the accident was not my fault?

If the accident was not your fault and the fault of another Driver, their insurance should cover your loss. If that person has no insurance you can have your own insurance company pay for the damage who will then subrograte against the other Driver. You should not experience an increase if the accident was not-at-fault. A great thing to keep on file is documentation stating the fault and other details of the non-fault accident.

What if My Car is Vandalized?

With this type situation, vandalism claim causing an increase in premium will depend on the company. It’s not your fault your vehicle was vandalized and you shouldn’t have to pay more for insurance due to someone elses destructive actions. That’s my opinion. However, some companies may question why your car was where it sat when the vandalism occured. Was it parked on the street? If so that would pose a higher risk compared to if the vehicle owner parked the car in the garage or carport. Was it sitting at an address that you currently reside even though the Insurance company has it on file that you live elsewhere? Sometimes with vandalism these types of questions will come up.

Should I file a Claim?

Claims are never a fun experience. Claims will also put a 3 to 5 year mark on your clue report which is used by all insurance companies to determine your rate. If the damage is minor it’s best to repair it without getting the insurance company involved. I personally will not consider filing a claim if the damage is less than twice or even three times the deductible amount (depending on the deductible).

If the damage is $1000 and my deductible is $500, if I have the money i’ll pay for the loss myself. If a claim will stay on my record for up to five years and my premium is increased by $300 every year what will I end up paying of the next five years?

$300 a year X 5 years = $1,500 not to mention the initial deductible ($500).

So all together I paid out $2000 over five years for my insurance company to fix my $1,000 loss or damage. Now if you have a major loss I would file a claim. For any loss I cannot handle, I’ll file a claim, that’s the whole purpose of auto insurance.

It’s so important to stay alert while driving behind another vehicle. You never know what that other Driver is going to do. Are they going to slam the brakes to avoid that puppy crossing the road? It happens every day. It seems like most accidents I see on the road are rear-enders. Some happen from people following to closely or sometimes just from paying less attention on the road. Either way if your caught “slippin” it’s wouldn’t it be nice to have a good set of brakes to help avoid these collisions. If you rear-end someone 9 times out of 10 you will end up being found negligent. This can effect your driving record as well as your insurance claims history. After doing a little research online about brakes and braking systems these are some useful tips I’ve found.

Selecting Your Brake Pads:

When it comes to brake pads you will have a few choices. You’ll find yourself choosing between semi-metallic, metallic and ceramic. Semi-Metallic and metallic pads are known to grind up your rotors pretty bad not to mention leave a mess of dust around your rim and tires. There are organic pads which are very clean, however they do have a shorter life span than most pads. Ceramic pads are a favorite by many motorists who want a clean, efficient braking system that will hang in there for a good while.

Choosing Rotors

Rotors are the shiny metal disc that your brake pads will push up or squeeze against to stop your vehicle. Most vehicles you purchase, new or used, will come with the basic stock rotors which are effective and get the job done of course. However, manufactures have come out with a few other types that you may want to consider if braking performance is something you would like to invest in.

X-drilled-Slotted Rotors

These aftermarket X-drilling rotors greatly improves brake response, these rotors will actually give your new brake pads the ability to cool down during contact with the rotor. The slots work in a way where they clear the pad face and rid the excess glaze created by the friction during pad contact. Brake performance and pad life is found to be increased with the use of these rotors.

Dimple Drilled-Slotted Rotors

Dimple Drilling allows the rotors to perform with some cooling but not too much cooling. Some find that too much change in temperature can cause a rotor to crack. Dimple drills help stabalize the temperature without the excessive heat cycling. This rotor design is a favorite to many and has proven it’s effectiveness time and time again.

While driving on public streets having a good braking system will help stop your vehicle in certain cases. However, it’s always best to remain alert and never follow to closely to the vehicle in front of you. You just never know what they will do next. Vehicles can be deadly machines which must be handled and operated with care. Low-insurance.org provides comparison insurance quotes as well as several tips to help save more on auto insurance. However, one of the best ways to maintain a low insurance rate is by driving safe and remaining accident free.

Finding the lowest rates isn’t as hard as it once was. Remember the good old days when you had to call around from one company to the next getting insurance quotes for the coverage you needed? I remember the first time I called around from one agent to the next in search for the best rate. What a process that was. It had to take about an hour or two before I could successfully get rates from about 5 or 6 companies. The truth is I cannot remember exactly how long it took me to find the right company, i just remember it being a process and I’m glad the internet has made this process easier for you and me with the comparitive rating systems that are out today. Today shoppers can get a quote online within 6 to 10 minutes. Shoppers who want the best rate utilize comparison shopping services as well as a few single direct quotes.

We Provide 3 Ways To get Auto Insurance Quotes:

1. Shoppers with prior coverage are encouraged to check out our online insurance quote selection where Drivers can compare side-by-side quotes between several companies.

2. We also provide the option to get quotes from several local agents.

3. Our last option gives the shopper the opportunity to select a local Independent Agent of their choice.

The Benefit Of Working With An Independent Agent

Independent Agents will shop your insurance using several major insurance carriers. Independent insurance carriers include companies such as Progressive, Travelers, The Hartford, Metlife and several others. The independent Agent will find the company offering the best rate for the coverage you need. If a few years down the line you want to re-shop your insurance, the Agent can easily bring up your file and re-quote your insurance with the companies. Rating structures change over time which makes it very important to compare rates from time to time.

If you would like an Independent Agency to quote your auto insurance today simply request a quote using our Independent Agency Quote selection. We will send your auto insurance quote request to the Agency you select. I personally have saved several hundred a year by switching to using the services of my local independent Agent.

After the quote has been submitted you will also be provided with a list of companies you may want to research quotes with online while you await the quote request from your local agent.

After researching the experience of business related theft claims, business owners should take extra precaution from theft by installing alarm systems for increased security.

I recently read a story of an Insured who experienced a break-in. Unfortunately an abundance of items was taken. Some of the equipment that was stolen made it hard for owner to operate the business. These types of claims can take time to settle. With this particular case, the claim still had not been settled for 2 months. After some research I’ve read of business owners who have gone 4 months without a settlement. Could you imagine going without your equipment for 4 months. What a pain!

As the same with homeowners insurance, you must always take an inventory of your business equipment and supplies. As equipment is brought into the business register it with descriptions, serial codes, etc. for in the event of a theft. Having a detailed list with pictures included is very beneficial and will help expedite the claims process. Some go as far as making a video recording of each and every room. It’s not always easy remembering all you had if one day you get to the office to see everything gone.

While it seems there isn’t any specific time frame within which the Insurance Carrier will fulfill the promise to settle the claim, Business owners may also simply try to expedite the settlement process by staying in touch with the Company. Keep in mind nothing ever seems to get done faster by being pushy. These Adjusters have several claims to handle each and every day. Simply keeping in touch keep will help them stay reminded of your claim.

Note: Sometimes the Claims Adjuster will not be able expedite the process if it’s in the hands of the company attorney. However, by staying in touch may help increase efficiency.

Although so many of those who attempt fraud get caught, some will slip through the cracks. What does this mean for the rest of us? You guessed it, our rates are adjusted to make up for these types of loss. I say, “What a crock!” We continue having to pay for the crimes others commit; not only through taxes but through increased insurance rates as well as security systems. When you come to think about it, most insurance policies both auto and homeowners have special coverages to help protect from loss caused by criminal activity. Although we cannot control the actions of others, we can continue protecting ourselves from others who want to make these negative choices. When it comes to fraud, some of the best investigators in the United States are indeed working for the insurance companies. The less fraud that occurs, the easier it will be for insurance companies to offer lower insurance rates.

I recently read a story about a slip-and-fall scam that happened in Mesa in December of last year; (2009). Apparently one guy entered a business with the idea of planting a hotdog for his trailing partner to slip and fall on. Sounds like something out of a cartoon. Like you wouldn’t see a hotdog. Anyways, the problem with their plan is they met up with each other “inside” the store before the hotdog incident occurred. Cameras clearly shown the Man and Woman together talking before the hotdog was even set. The camera even shown the Man carefully plant the hotdog after taking a good look around. A little later the woman he met up with in the store slipped on it and was taken to the hospital for her so-called injuries.

If your considering fraud as a way to get out of debt or to just supplement your bank account, please reconsider. Attempting fraud will most likely lead to felony charges and even prison time. It’s just not worth it. This week look out for another article detailing some of the “less intelligent” fraud cases recorded.
