When To Involve The Insurance Company – Car Vs Tree, Comprehensive Claims

Today I was browsing pictures and came across this one. This is a picture of the results of a bad wind storm. I don’t exactly know how this happened but I believe the wind blew this tree down and somehow jammed a large tree stump underneath the vehicle which was parked nearby. It doesn’t appear that any major damage was caused to the vehicle by the looks of the picture but how can we tell the extent of the damage? It may also cost a several hundred just to simply take the vehicle off the stump without damaging the vehicle further. You can’t really just drive it off. You’ll probably have to somehow roll the front out without dropping the back right away. I’m unsure if slowly lifting the tree back up to its original place while lowing the stump and vehicle down slowly would be an option. Hiring the right service or equipment for this may be pretty costly.

If it cost less than your deductible to pay the appropriate service to come out and work some magic, this may be the best way to go. If it’s less expensive to do it yourself, while keeping claims off your record, that decision will save you the most in the long run. If it does cost too much to take care of the problem yourself, it would be best to call your insurance company to help determine the next step. If you must make a claim it will be a comprehensive claim and you would just need pay the deductible payment prior to the repair or recovery.
