When it comes to auto claims, insurance companies have a pretty good idea of what kinds are made and how many there should be during a given time period. If there are a lot more specific auto claims being made, that could lead the company to question the validity of those claims. One of the ways that these same companies keep their low car insurance rates available is through the investigation of these claims, so they can stop any fraud that might be occurring.

When you get car insurance quotes, they’re based on information that the insurance company has and what you provide to the company regarding your driving record, the kind of car you have, and other factors. To get low car insurance rates, you need to be a good driver. If you have a lot of past auto insurance claims – especially if those claims were questionable – you could see your low cost car insurance disappear. Insurance quotes aren’t set in stone, and they can change quite quickly if the company feels you aren’t being honest.

Considering Fraud?

One thing you must know about fraud is where it can lead. First off, fraud is illegal, wrong and if not caught, karma has a way of coming back around to bite you. Investigators work very hard each and every day developing new ways to catch those committing this crime. Being caught in a fraudulent crime can lead to the entire claim lost, little chance of ever being able to buy insurance in the future, federal prosecution and even imprisonment. What many people assume is how much the Insurer knows about them. For all the Insured knows, prior property or vehicle inspections may have been done without you even knowing, especially with companies who sell insurance online. With all these risks mentioned, lying to insurance companies still seems to be on the rise, as evidenced by the changes that many of the auto insurance companies have experienced. Between 2008 and 2009, there were significant percentage changes in the following six auto claims:

Hail Damage Weather Claims

1. Hail damage. There was a 47% increase in hail damage claims seen between ’08 and ’09, leading insurers to question whether all of these claims were legitimate. Hail damage is relatively easy to see, but there are still ways to get money from an insurance company dishonestly, and hail damage claims appear to be among the most popular ways. Claiming the damage, getting a check, and not spending it to fix the car is common amongst those committing this insurance fraud.

Auto Glass Claims Rise

2. Auto glass. Like hail damage, auto glass claims saw a 47% increase during the time period studied. Damaging the glass in order to make a claim, then using the insurance money for another purpose is something that’s been done for quite a while. This is why glass coverage will continue to rise.

The Phantom Accident

3. Phantom accident. Some people will intentionally crash a car to make a claim so they can get the money. Others will report accidents that didn’t really happen – if they’ve purchased a car that’s already damaged, for instance. Most insurance companies used to check to see if there was damage to a car before they insured it, but there’s much less of that taking place now, since people can get insurance online. Phantom accidents went up 43% in a one-year period. This is more than likely the reason for increased local inspections by online companies.

Inflated Repairs

4. Inflated repairs. The cost of repairs is important, and there’s been a 33% jump in the number of people who’ve overstated how much the repairs on their vehicle actually cost. They do that to get a larger check from the insurance company, and then they simply pocket the difference in price.

Suspicious Comprehensive Claims

5. Suspicious hit while parked. Claiming that someone hit your vehicle while you were parked went up 33% between 2008 and 2009. The insurance company sometimes can and can’t prove that it didn’t happen so while some get away with this fraud claims, many wont.

Unperformed Repairs

6. Unperformed repairs. With a 31% increase, this is very similar to inflated repairs. The repairs that are performed are minimal and not all of what should really be done, thereby letting the consumer keep the rest of the money that should have been used to repair the vehicle.

Auto Insurers struggle because of dishonesty such as this. There are many other things that can affect car insurance quotes, but fraud is one of the biggest factors that can’t be controlled by driving record and other consumer-related issues. When it comes to getting low car insurance rates and exploring insurance quotes, fraud and questionable auto claims are factors that come into the rating process. Anything you can do, such as install an alarm system or Lojack, to set the Insurer’s mind at ease will help reduce your auto premium.

There are a lot of ‘truths’ out there about insurance – and many of them aren’t true at all. They’re important to be aware of when you’re getting insurance quotes, and also when you’re looking for low car insurance rates. A lot of people still believe them, and it can affect what kind of car they buy, what color they choose, and whether they get the kind of coverage that they really want and need. Here, you’ll find the top 10 insurance myths that are still circulating today.

1. Red cars get ticketed over more often. In reality, the color of the car doesn’t affect whether you’re pulled over. Sports cars tend to be brightly colored and their drivers tend to speed and be ticketed, which has led to the continuation of this particular myth.

2. Red cars cost more to insure and/or are harder to insure. The insurance company doesn’t care what color your car is, and they won’t even ask you about color when you insure it. The make, model, and other factors are what they use in order to determine what your car insurance quotes should be.

3. Your car insurance covers you, no matter whose vehicle you’re driving. Be careful of this one. Some low car insurance policies do offer this, and others don’t. If you’re going to be driving a vehicle that doesn’t belong to you, take a moment to find out whether your insurance will protect you in the event of an accident. It’s very important to know this before you drive, not after you’ve already had a problem.

4. Speeding tickets always make low cost car insurance rates go higher. Getting a speeding ticket can mean higher rates, but that’s not always the case. If your record is otherwise good, you may not see an increase in premiums.

5. There’s no regulation on the rates you receive when you get car insurance quotes. Car insurance quotes are regulated, and insurance companies can’t just charge whatever they feel like. Still, look around for low cost car insurance, because you want to get the best rates.

6. An accident will always raise your car insurance rates. Like speeding tickets, accidents can raise your rates – but they won’t always do so. A good driving record and a long history of low car insurance rates may protect you from seeing your premium go up if you’re at fault in a collision. Many companies have included ‘Accident Forgiveness’ as a feature of certain policies.

7. Comprehensive coverage protects you from everything that could happen to your car. Read the fine print on your car insurance, and you’ll often find that there are specific things that aren’t covered. It’s better to know what they are beforehand.

8. Where you live doesn’t matter when looking for low cost car insurance. High crime and natural disaster areas will bring higher car insurance quotes. Consider that carefully if you’re moving and looking for low car insurance rates.

9. When you buy a new car, you’re automatically covered by your insurance company. You usually have a set number of days to notify your insurance company. If you don’t do that, your low cost car insurance won’t be any good when it comes to covering your new car.

10. Thieves are much more likely to steal a new car than an older one. Thieves will generally steal cars they can part out and sell. These are often popular, older models that are common, not new cars.

It’s easy to assume that you know all you need to know about car insurance, but in order to get low cost car insurance every time you change companies, vehicles, or circumstances, it’s better to make sure you’re really aware of any issues that might affect what you pay. Understanding what’s fact and what’s fiction can really help you save.

When it comes to buying a new car, safety and security should really matter more than style. Cars that have good safety features can offer you low cost car insurance, and that’s very helpful when you’re shopping around for car insurance quotes. Insurance quotes from several different companies can help you get low car insurance rates, so be sure to shop around – when you’re buying a car and when you’re getting insurance. With the Audi A4, you can get the style you’re looking for in a great car – but what about the safety and security that you need and want?

According to the National Institute for Highway Safety, the Audi A4 is rated ‘good’ for both frontal offset test results and side impact test results. Roof strength tests weren’t conducted, so the NIHS didn’t provide a rating for that, but it’s likely that the ratings would also be good. The Audi A4 is a solidly-built car that its makers took great care to produce. Knowing that frontal and side impacts are well protected against is very important when
you’re looking for a safe vehicle that you feel comfortable taking your family around in.

2010 A4 Audi Airbags

You can also get better car insurance quotes and low cost car insurance from some companies if you have some specific safety features on your car – and the Audi A4 has many. Side impact beams, driving lights, and curb lights, as well as an illuminated entry, can help you get in and out of your car safely, see well in bad weather, and stay safe during a collision. Airbags are also standard – and very important to protect your family or other passengers and to save you money on car insurance quotes.

Anti-lock brakes and a security system can also save you money and keep you from getting hurt or from your vehicle getting stolen. Anytime you get insurance quotes for your Audi A4 or any other vehicle, make sure that you tell the agent you talk to about your vehicle’s safety features. Often, providing the VIN will be enough to give your agent all the information he needs, but it’s important to clarify everything and make sure you’re getting all the discounts you’re entitled to. You don’t want to lose out because you forgot to say
something about a safety feature that your insurance company gives a discount for.

Also, keep in mind that some insurance companies give discounts for things that others don’t, so you might be able to save some money by switching insurance companies. You can compare quotes online and review rates offered by several different Insurers, in order to get the best price for your needs. Whether you have a clean driving record or you’ve had some problems, you can still get low cost car insurance if you check around with the right companies. People have a tendency to buy something like the Audi A4 and just pick the first insurer they can find – or the one they had their trade-in car insured with.

That works to get the car off the lot and home, but the Audi A4 is such a great car and has so many good safety features that low cost car insurance is something to consider for it. Low car insurance rates can free up money for a lot of other things, and if you don’t check around for car insurance quotes you might end up paying much more than you need to. Insurance quotes don’t take long to get, and they’re well worth your time and trouble.

For many people, paying up front for a six-month or annual insurance policy can be difficult because of the outlay of cash. However, paying for your auto insurance in full can help reduce your premium significantly and give you low car insurance that you’ll really love. A paid-in-full discount is offered by many insurers for those who can manage to pay their premium this way.

If you can come up with the cash to pay in full, it’s well worth doing. If you’re trying to get insurance, be sure you ask any company you get car insurance quotes from about a discount for paying in full, to see how much you’re really saving.

Here are some simple strategies you can use in order to prepare for paying your next auto policy in full:

•	Set up a separate savings account. You can get low cost car insurance more easily when you pay in full, and setting a specific amount of money aside in a separate account each time you get paid can help you have enough for the premium – and the paid-in-full discount. You’ll be less tempted to spend it if it’s not in your normal checking account.

•	Skip that morning latte. If you normally stop for a cup of coffee, a bagel, a doughnut, or something else on your way to work, have something to eat or drink at home and skip buying breakfast out. The little bit you save each day can really add up – and you can use that accumulating money to get low cost car insurance by paying your premium in full. If you normally go out to lunch, you can use this same strategy by packing a lunch from home. It’s much less expensive in the long run.

•	Cut back on cable, cell phone, or Internet – or simply create a budget that you can really stick to and that allows you to save money each month toward paying your car insurance premium. It’s not always easy, but there are a lot of little ways that people can cut down on their spending. Getting low car insurance rates by paying in full is part of that.

In addition to paying your policy in full, there are other ways to save more on your auto insurance. Follow these tips to see more savings:

•	Consider switching insurance companies. If your current company doesn’t offer a paid-in-full discount, you might want to get some insurance quotes from other places. Getting car insurance quotes doesn’t put you under any obligation, and you might find a great deal on low cost car insurance that you weren’t even expecting. It’s easier to save money if you know you’re going to be rewarded for doing so.

•	Avoid tickets and accidents. You can’t control what other drivers do, but you can drive within the speed limit, remain alert, stay home if the weather is very bad, and do other small things that show your insurance company you’re responsible. People who have clean driving records often get low cost car insurance through their current company and can be offered low car insurance rates through other companies if they go looking for insurance quotes.

• If you’re moving, consider where you’re going to be living, and pick a safe area. When you live in a high-crime neighborhood and/or park your vehicle on the street, your low cost car insurance can disappear.

By following these simple strategies, you’ll have a much better chance of seeing the lowest car insurance rates you can get, based on your age and other factors. You’ve got better things to spend your money on than over-priced car insurance, so don’t waste any time – by starting to make simple changes today, you can save big money in the future.

People who take care of their vehicles often enjoy low car insurance rates when compared to those who aren’t as careful with their possessions. That generally happens because people who maintain their cars have fewer claims than people who don’t really care about their vehicles. Anyone can have a problem with a vehicle or get into an accident, but a properly-maintained vehicle will be much less likely to stop working or have any other type of problem that could result in a collision or insurance claim. Every claim you file on your insurance could cause your rates to go up or your policy to eventually be cancelled, so avoiding them is important.

If you want to avoid making claims and have a chance at low cost car insurance, vehicle maintenance is worth paying attention to. Whether you do it yourself or take it in for service, simple checks can mean big savings, and that’s great news – especially when the economy is tight and people need to save their cash. When you’re planning on getting some car insurance quotes, that’s a good time to focus on car maintenance. Here are some specific things to check for:

•	Tires – check the pressure in all of your car’s tires, because tires that are over-inflated or under-inflated can be a driving hazard. They heat up more than properly-inflated tires, they can cause blowouts and flats, and they also lose tread faster. That compromises your safety and costs you more money in the long run, neither of which is a good choice.

•	Oil and Water – low oil can cause an engine to work too hard and can damage the delicate components within it. Low water can cause it to overheat. You won’t see good insurance quotes and low cost car insurance if you destroy your vehicles and make frequent repair and accident claims on your policy. Checking the oil (and changing it as recommended) and checking the water are basic skills, and anyone can learn to do them.

•	Brakes and Steering – Many brake systems and steering systems on newer cars are almost impossible to access. They’re very tightly sealed. Older cars, though, are a different story. The fluid in these can be checked much more easily, and it’s a good idea to make sure that fluid levels are appropriate. If you have an automatic transmission in your vehicle, checking the transmission fluid at the same time is also a great idea.

There are plenty of other systems on your vehicle, but the fluid levels and the tires are some of the most important areas to keep up on. They’re also some of the easiest for you as a vehicle owner to check, which means you won’t have to take your car or truck to a dealer or mechanic and spend a lot of money to have these things examined and small adjustments made to them.

People maintain their houses and take care of fire dangers and other risks that surround them, but they often fail to do the same for their vehicles. It just doesn’t seem to be that important to them, or they forget to do it. Don’t be one of those people who doesn’t take care of the things they’ve purchased. Just by being proactive with your vehicle maintenance and careful with your driving, you can get low car insurance rates. If you think you’re paying too much, check around for car insurance quotes from several different companies and compare the insurance quotes you get with what you’re already paying. Low cost car insurance doesn’t have to be out of reach for you.

Pay Less for Car Insurance

Like a lot of people, you might be paying too much for your car insurance. The only way to find out is to get car insurance quotes from a lot of companies, but these insurance quotes take time and require personal information. Not everyone feels comfortable giving out that information – and a lot of people just aren’t interested in taking the time to get quotes in the hope of seeing low car insurance rates. Some people also worry that low cost car insurance might not come from a high-quality company and might not be there for them to rely on if they really need it.

Many good companies offer low cost car insurance, though, and taking the time to compare quotes is really very valuable, especially if you have a good driving record and/or you haven’t shopped around for car insurance for a while. When you plan to shop for car insurance and get quotes, make sure you know your driving history and other personal and vehicle information. That way you can be sure you’re getting discounts for everything you have to offer to an insurance company and you’re getting an honest comparison between rates. Many of the reasons for failing to get low cost car insurance come from your own choices. These can include:

•	Tickets – if they’re not moving violations, they often won’t count against your insurance.
•	Accidents – those accidents that were deemed to be your fault.
•	Claims – damage that’s occurred to your vehicle and the insurance company has paid for.
•	Marriage – divorced people often pay more for car insurance than married people.
•	Where you live – crime rates in specific zip codes can affect your insurance rates.

There are other things that affect car insurance rates and that you can’t control, such as your age. Younger drivers aren’t going to get the low car insurance rates that older, more experienced drivers get, but they can still shop around for good deals. They can also take a driving course so that they can get a discount through a lot of insurance companies. If you’re young and having trouble getting low cost car insurance, always ask what you can do to get lower rates when you get car insurance quotes. If there are some simple things you can do to lower your rate, it’s often well worth it.

Some companies that offer car insurance just charge more than others. You can’t really do anything about that, with the exception of switching to another company. If enough people do that, the company may lower its rates or even go out of business. It certainly sends a powerful message when they continuously lose customers to companies that offer better rates for the same coverage. Unfortunately, many insurers don’t have this reality check because their customers don’t shop around for car insurance quotes from other companies.

No matter what company you have your car insurance through, you don’t have to just settle where you are and assume you can’t get anything less expensive. Low car insurance rates are out there, no matter what kind of circumstances you have and what your driving record looks like. If you’ve had the same insurance company for a while, it might be time to compare quotes and see what rates other companies will offer to you. If you receive lower car insurance quotes you can switch and pay less. If you find that you can’t get anything less expensive, at least you’ll know that you’re paying the lowest rates you can get for your current circumstances.

While the majority of people cite fireplaces, space heaters, and candles used in the winter months as the largest home fire dangers, there are many others – and they don’t just show up when the weather is cold. Summer fires are equally likely, but there are some common-sense ways that homeowners can reduce their risks.

Responsible homeowners often see lower insurance quotes, and that’s true of home as well as car insurance quotes. Saving money is always a bonus, and it can be done if you use these tips to protect your home:

Pay attention to burn bans and red-flag warnings. Anytime the weather forecasters or news reporters tell you not to burn outdoors because of fire danger, listen to them. Don’t assume that it won’t happen to you. Burning your home down would be a disastrous event, and if your vehicle is parked nearby and also destroyed, you can forget about low cost insurance for a while.

Don’t grill or cook out right next to or in the garage. Companies that offer low car insurance rates don’t generally like to pay for your vehicle because you burned the garage down around it. Unfortunately, a lot of people don’t see the danger in grilling in the garage as opposed to further away from the house until it’s too late.

Remember to watch the children. During the summer months, things like shopping for insurance quotes or evaluating risks are often far from your mind. The days are warm and the kids are playing. Do you know what the kids are doing? Make sure you keep an eye on them, because seemingly-innocent play can start a serious fire very quickly – especially when leaves and grass are dry.

Make any necessary changes and updates to the electrical system in your home, and don’t just rig up electricity to something – get an electrician to do it. You’re not going to see low homeowners’ insurance quotes if your home is unsafe, because you’re at greater risk of fire and other problems. Plus, the danger to your family is much greater. Keep everyone safe and lower your insurance quotes by ensuring your home meets electrical codes.

Protecting your home and family in both winter and summer is a very important task. That’s why people seek out car insurance quotes and home insurance quotes they feel comfortable with. Even though summer is supposed to be fun, make sure you take the time to ensure the insurance you have is adequate. Low car insurance rates, just like low home insurance quotes, are great – but only if you’re getting the coverage you need.

The least expensive car insurance quotes and home insurance options aren’t always the best, and more than one person has been left hanging because of low cost car insurance that’s really low benefit car insurance. The same kinds of problems happen with home insurance, especially after a natural disaster when people who thought they were covered suddenly find out they’re not covered at all.

Take a few moments out of your summer in order to make safe, smart choices about your low cost car insurance and your low priced homeowners’ insurance. Car insurance quotes and insurance quotes for your home are easy to get quickly, and you can compare them and see which one is right for you.

Pay close attention to the cost, but also stop and look at what you’re really getting for the money. A lot of people try for the cheapest homeowners’ insurance they can find and the lowest of the low car insurance rate options, but savvy consumers know they get what they pay for – and they’ll get more and pay less by taking good care of their home and making smart choices when it comes to summer fire risks.
